How to pinch the tip of Begonia

How to pinch the tip of Begonia

Reasons for pinching

The Begonia plant is beautiful, with bright green leaves, rich and varied flower colors, and clustered flowers. It has good ornamental value and is very suitable for use in courtyards, home decoration, flower bed arrangements, etc. So, in the process of caring for Begonia, one important point to pay attention to is pinching. The main purpose of pinching is to inhibit the excessive growth of branches and increase the formation of flower buds, which can make the plant grow stronger and more beautiful.

Tipping method

Normally, Begonia needs to be pinched at least twice. When the flower begonia plant grows to a certain extent, the top of its main stem or side branch can be cut off to encourage the germination of axillary buds, which will inhibit the excessive growth of branches and increase the number of flowers.

During the growth period of Begonia seedlings, the first pinching is needed to promote the germination of new buds and the growth of side branches. If the corolla is not large, the buds can also be removed to promote the growth of side branches.

When the Begonia reaches its flowering period, it needs to be topped for the second time. Pinching should be done in time after the flowers fall, and proper pruning should be done to remove the dead flowers. This will encourage the plant to sprout new branches and produce more flower buds. This can not only keep the plant in a plump and beautiful dwarf flower shape, but also allow it to bloom continuously, achieving a good ornamental effect. If pinching and pruning are neglected, the Begonia plant will easily grow too tall, reducing the ornamental value of the flower, and the quantity and quality of flowers will also be affected.
