How to grow Dendrobium in a pot at home

How to grow Dendrobium in a pot at home

Prepare the materials:

1. Flower pot: I chose a plain ceramic pot of 10×10×10 cm, which has better air permeability and water permeability.

2. Bark: Try to find the bark that is more broken.

3. Sawdust and Dendrobium seedlings

Potting steps:

Step 1: Place the Dendrobium seedling in a flowerpot, then fill the flowerpot with bark and sawdust. The bark and sawdust should reach the top of the roots of the plant. Do not bury the roots too deep.

Step 2: Prepare to water. It is best to use a watering can to soak the bark and sawdust thoroughly, but do not allow water to accumulate in the flowerpot. Pay attention to its drainage.

Step 3: Fertilization method: Just apply fertilizer in early spring and late autumn every year, with an application amount of about 10 to 15 grains of fertilizer. The fertilizer should be diluted before application. It is enough to apply fertilizer twice a year, and no additional fertilizer is needed.

Step 4: If pests and diseases are found, they can be removed manually if they are minor. However, if they are serious, not only should all the affected areas be cut off, but they should also be thoroughly removed with appropriate fungicides and insecticides. After cutting off the affected areas, soak the cut ends in clean water for a while before replanting them in the pot.

Step 5: When choosing a location for the potted Dendrobium, try to pick a place with sunlight. If it cannot receive full-day sunlight, make sure it is in the sun for a short period of time every day. But appropriate shade should be provided during summer noons.

Note:

In winter, if the bark and sawdust in the lower part of the flowerpot are always moist, do not water the plant even if the upper part is dry. You can spray water directly on it. Wait until the bark and sawdust are completely dry before watering.
