Diseases and Pests of Chrysanthemi Indica and Their Control

Diseases and their control of Chrysanthemi orchid

There are two common diseases of Chimonanthus chinensis, stem rot and sclerotinia rot.

Stem rot

Stem rot can seriously harm the branches, stems and leaves of the plant. When the disease occurs, the specific manifestation is the appearance of dark gray burn-like spots. The specific cause is a disease caused by fungi. Moreover, stem rot will gradually spread around the diseased plants, so the diseased plants should be cleaned up in time after the stem rot is discovered. During normal management, be careful not to over-water and pay attention to ventilation and drainage. In addition, you can spray thiophanate wettable powder solution.

Sclerotinia

Sclerotinia is a soil-borne fungal disease. It will harm the fruits and stems of the plant. The main symptom of plant disease is the formation of water-soaked spots. In the later stage, the spots will gradually expand and turn light brown. In severe cases, white mold will appear, causing the leaves to rot. The main methods of prevention and control are cleaning the fields and selecting seeds, disinfecting the soil before sowing, improving the quality of seeds, strengthening management, and reasonable planting. For chemical control, you can spray thiophanate-methyl wettable powder.

Cicada

Cicadas can harm the leaves of plants and should be dealt with promptly once discovered. There are three main methods to prevent and control cicadas. Method one is to clean the leaves and weeds under the plants in time during winter to reduce overwintering insects. The second method is to use the insects' phototaxis to kill them by using light to lure them. The third method is chemical control, which can be done by spraying diazinon or cypermethrin wettable powder.
