Cultivation methods and precautions of red lotus

soil

Red lotus is not very demanding on the soil, and it can grow well in ordinary sandy soil. The general soil nature is acidic or slightly acidic. It grows better on slopes with deep and fertile soil.

illumination

Red lotus likes light and should be planted in a place with good sunlight. Planting it in a place with too much shade will affect its flowering.

Water and fertilizer

Red lotus should avoid heavy clay soil and stagnant water. Therefore, attention should be paid to drainage in daily care. Fertile sandy loam should be used as potting soil. In the southern region, pond mud and coarse sand can be selected for preparation, while in the northern region, mountain soil or leaf mold plus a small amount of organic fertilizer should be used to prepare the soil.

For red lotus grown outdoors, no special watering is required, and natural precipitation can be relied upon. Before and after it blooms, it is necessary to cut and apply top dressing, and apply organic fertilizer or compound fertilizer two to three times. When growing red lotus in potted plants, follow the principle of watering when the soil is dry and watering when the soil is wet. The soil should not be too moist for a long time, otherwise it will affect the air and water permeability of the soil and cause root rot. After flowering, apply nitrogen fertilizer, and before flowering, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Stop fertilizing during flowering.

Precautions

Young trees of red lotus provide shade, while adult plants prefer sunlight. Therefore, adult and young trees should be treated differently. They require an average annual temperature of 19℃-22℃ and can withstand an absolute low temperature of -4.5℃.
