How to prolong the flowering period of cyclamen

How to prolong the flowering period of cyclamen

1. Flowering period

The growing season of cyclamen is from the end of August to the beginning of September. It is best to place it in a ventilated area. As the leaves grow, you can gradually increase the nutrients it needs. When the cyclamen flower bud grows one centimeter, you should use a chemical to help it bloom, such as gibberellin solution. However, you must be careful not to make the solution concentration too high. Too much or too little will affect the shape of the flowers and the number of deformed flowers will increase. Its flowering period is from October to May of the following year. During this period, the room temperature should be between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius, and the humidity should be above 60% and below 75%. During flowering, the soil only needs to be moist, and there is no need to water it a lot. Fertilizing should also be stopped at this time.

2. How to extend

If you want the flowers to bloom longer, the owner needs to be very careful. As long as you pay attention to these details, it is not difficult to control the flowering period.

1. Some varieties have a light fragrance, while some varieties have a strong fragrance. You can choose the variety yourself. If it is too cold in winter, the petals will look very dull, but it is very cold-resistant and will not be harmed as long as the temperature is not below zero degrees Celsius. It prefers a neither too cold nor too hot environment. If placed indoors, the temperature can be kept around 12°C. If your home is in the north and you use heating in winter, avoid excessively high temperatures as it will be easier for it to metabolize.

2. Although you don’t need to water too much during the flowering period, you can’t let the pot dry out, otherwise it will easily cause the plant to fall over. If it has rotten or dead leaves, remove them in time to avoid wasting energy.

3. Moving the cyclamen will help it pollinate and make it more likely to wither, so it is best to leave it still and reduce any touching or shaking of it.

4. The light should not be too strong. Since it can bloom in winter, it means that it does not require much light. You can sprinkle some fertilizer at the appropriate time, which can also prolong the flowering period. When fertilizing, pay attention to the appropriate solvent ratio and do not sprinkle fertilizer from the top of the flower.
