Flowers die all the time, it’s all your fault that you don’t know these techniques!

Hydrangea

Cause of death: Sunburn

Hydrangeas are afraid of being exposed to the scorching sun. Once exposed to the scorching sun, they will wilt, and in serious cases, they may even die!

Solution:

Once you find that the hydrangea has wilted due to the sun, move it to a cool place and water it thoroughly. After a period of time, the hydrangea will slowly recover on its own.

Precautions:

1. When planting, plant hydrangeas under a big tree or at the base of a wall. It is best to plant them facing north.

2. If you are planting hydrangeas on a balcony, it is best to plant them on the north balcony. If there is no north balcony, but only a south balcony, you can simply provide shade at noon in summer. You can use a sun-proof net and draw the curtains.

Cause of death 2: Death by drying

Hydrangea likes water. Once it lacks water, not only the leaves but also the flowers will gradually wilt. Severe water shortage may even lead to death.

Solution:

1. If it is a potted hydrangea, you can water it thoroughly and then put it in a cool place to recover. It will recover in about 1 day.
2. If you are worried that the hydrangea will continue to wilt, you can soak the pot after watering. There is no need to find a special basin, just fill the tray below with water.

Precautions:

1. Water in time. For hydrangeas grown outdoors, if the weather is particularly dry, they need to be watered about once every 1 to 2 days.
2. The condition of the room should be considered for potted hydrangeas. Generally speaking, water them every 2 to 3 days, or when the leaves are slightly wilted.

Gardenia

Cause of death: Death by drying

Gardenia likes water, so you must water it frequently. Once it lacks water, the leaves of the gardenia will slowly wilt and then turn yellow. If you don't give it water, it will eventually dry out and die.

Solution:

1. If you find that the leaves of the gardenia are wilting, water it immediately, and make sure it is watered thoroughly.
2. Place it in a cool and ventilated place. After the leaves of the gardenia have recovered, move it to the balcony for maintenance.

Precautions:

1. Watering should be timely. Indoor gardenias only need to be watered once every 1 to 2 days.

2. For gardenias grown outdoors, watering is more frequent, generally once a day. If the weather is particularly dry, water them once in the morning and evening.

Coinweed

Cause of death: Death from insufficient light

The pennywort likes strong sunlight and will not grow well if kept indoors. If you keep the pennywort indoors for a long time, it will die directly from lack of light.

Solutions & Preventive Measures:

Just move the pennywort to the south balcony with good lighting. If you can grow it outdoors, move the pennywort outside.

Cause of death 2: Death by drying

The pennywort likes plenty of water, especially in summer. It will fall over if it lacks water. If it is not watered, it will dry up and die, especially if it is grown in soil.

Solutions & Preventive Measures:

1. Once you see the pennywort become wilted, water it and it will grow back on its own soon.
2. It is recommended to grow the pennywort in half soil and half water or directly in hydroponics. As long as the water content in the container is not less than two-thirds, the pennywort will not die.

3. If it is a soil-grown pennywort, it must be watered at least 2 to 3 times a day, otherwise it will wilt.

Schlumbergera

Cause of death: Overwatering

Christmas cactus is dormant in summer, so watering is required less. Some flower lovers do not master the amount of watering, and after watering too much, the Christmas cactus dies directly...

Solution:

1. If the Christmas cactus is grafted on a cactus, you can remove the cactus from the soil. Cut off the rotten part, disinfect and dry it in the shade, then insert it into disinfected river sand to re-root.
2. If it is an ungrafted Christmas cactus, you can select the more robust leaves of the Christmas cactus, divide them into two sections, disinfect them and re-cut them.

Precautions:

1. After Christmas cactus blooms in spring, it will enter a dormant period. At this time, you need to start controlling water. Water when the soil is dry and when it is wet. Before watering, dig up 2 to 3 cm of the soil surface to see if it is completely dry. If it is, water it. Basically, water it once every half a month to a month.

2. After you see new buds sprouting from the Christmas cactus or small flower buds growing, you can switch to normal care!

Cause of death 2: Sunburn

During its dormant period, Christmas cactus needs to be placed in a cool place indoors for maintenance. If you place the Christmas cactus directly on the balcony and leave it alone, it will definitely die from the sun.

Solution:

1. Cut off all the dried parts of Christmas cactus.
2. Cut off the healthy parts of the Christmas cactus and disinfect them with carbendazim.
3. Prepare a container and clean water, and put the Christmas cactus in it.
4. Wait for about half a month to one month, and the Christmas cactus will take root successfully. Then you can transplant it into a flowerpot.

Precautions:

1. If you are growing Christmas cactus on the balcony, you need shade at noon in summer.
2. You can also place the Christmas cactus in a bright place indoors, such as a living room, so you don’t have to worry about it being killed by the scorching sun.

asparagus

Cause of death: Too little water

Asparagus fern likes a humid environment, especially now in summer when evaporation is vigorous. Asparagus fern requires more water. If it is not watered in time, it will slowly turn yellow and eventually die.

Solution:

1. Cut off all the yellow leaves. If all the leaves are yellow, cut them off directly, leaving only the part 3 to 4 cm above the soil surface.
2. Place the asparagus fern in a place with scattered light, water it thoroughly, and wait for it to slowly grow new buds.
3. Before new sprouts grow, water should be sufficient, but water should not accumulate. Basically, it is enough to keep the soil surface slightly moist.

Precautions:

1. Keep the soil slightly moist and water it about once every 3 to 4 days.
2. Spray water on the leaves of asparagus fern every day to increase the air humidity and prevent the leaves from turning yellow.

Jasmine

Cause of death: insufficient light

Jasmine needs sufficient light to grow. If the light is insufficient, it will cause problems such as bud drop. If there is insufficient light for a long time, it will die directly!

Solutions & Preventive Measures:

Move the jasmine to a brightly lit place first. After the jasmine has adapted for a period of time, move it to the south balcony, or place it directly outdoors.

Cause of death 2: Lack of water

Jasmine likes abundant water and sunshine. It is not only easy to die from insufficient light, but also from insufficient watering. Because the light is too strong, if the watering does not keep up, it will dry up and die directly.

Solutions & Preventive Measures:

1. Water the jasmine thoroughly, and then place it in a place with scattered light for 1 to 2 days to allow it to relax.
2. After it recovers, move the jasmine to a place with good light and water it once every 1 to 2 days.

Anthurium

Cause of death: Sunburn

Anthurium is not resistant to sunlight and prefers an environment with scattered light. If it is placed on a south balcony in the summer without providing shade, it will definitely be sunburned to death.

Solution:

1. Move the sunburned anthurium indoors immediately.
2. Cut off the sunburned parts.
3. Water the anthurium thoroughly and place it indoors where it cannot be exposed to direct sunlight, such as the north balcony, or the living room, or the east or west balcony.

Precautions:

Flower lovers who grow flowers on the south balcony need to provide shade at noon.
You can grow it directly in the living room, or on the north, east or west balcony.

Cause of death 2: Death by drying

Anthurium likes a humid environment. If it is watered too little or the air humidity is not enough, it will easily die.

Solutions & Preventive Measures:

1. Cut off all the dry parts at the top, including the flowers.
2. Water the Anthurium thoroughly, about once every 2 to 4 days, otherwise it will wilt.
3. Spray water on the ground around the anthurium every day to increase the air humidity.
