Gentiana breeding methods and precautions

Gentiana breeding method

Seed propagation

Gentiana seeds are very small, and they need to germinate in an environment with good temperature, humidity and light conditions. The seeds can germinate in a week in an environment of about 25 degrees. The growth is relatively slow during the seedling stage, so strong light exposure should be avoided at this time. It is necessary to strengthen management during the seedling stage, keep the seedbed moist, and use reed curtains for shading.

Root division propagation

You can dig out the underground roots and rhizomes in autumn, but be careful not to damage the winter buds. Cut the rhizomes into segments with three or more nodes, bury them in the soil, cover them with soil, and water them to keep the soil moist.

Cutting propagation method

Adult plant branches should be cut before flower bud differentiation, and the leaves at the bottom of the branches should be cut off to reduce evaporation. After the cuttings are inserted into the cutting bed, they should be watered immediately to moisten them. When the soil temperature is between 18-28 degrees, they will take root in three weeks.

Notes on Gentian breeding

When using cuttings for propagation, you can apply the new lipid film mother solution on the branches to prevent the invasion of pathogens and increase the survival rate.

Gentian should be weeded in time during the seedling stage, watered during the spring drought, and paid attention to drainage during the rainy season.

During the flowering period of Gentiana, attention should be paid to top dressing, and attention should be paid to disease and pest prevention and control at ordinary times. New lipid film can be sprayed to enhance the prevention and control effect.
