How to use water correctly for hydroponic Clivia

How to use water correctly for hydroponic Clivia

Water selection

When growing Clivia hydroponically, choosing water is very important because tap water cannot be used directly.

In fact, you can put tap water into a transparent container and then expose it under the sun, so that some substances in the tap water will precipitate out. It is generally better if the water turns green.

After the water is restored, hydroponics can be carried out. Note that the water level should be moderate. If it is too high, the pseudobulbs of the Clivia will be submerged and rot. If it is too shallow, there will not be enough water supply.

Pay attention to water quality

When growing Clivia hydroponically, it is very important to pay attention to the water. If the water quality is too poor, it will be very detrimental to the growth of Clivia, and the water will lack oxygen and fertilizer. So change the water frequently.

Secondly, when growing Clivia in water, moss will appear over time. The moss will affect the breathing of the roots and needs to be removed frequently. You can brush it off gently with a brush.

In addition, it is necessary to frequently check whether the hydroponic water contains sufficient oxygen. The inspection method is also relatively simple. You can put a few small fish into the hydroponic container to see if the fish can move normally. If you find that small fish always float to the surface of the water, it means that there is not enough oxygen in the water and you need to replenish oxygen in time.

Other considerations

In fact, there is another very important point, that is, when conducting hydroponics, it is necessary to maintain a suitable water temperature so that the plants can grow normally.
