How to propagate mulberry trees by cuttings

How to propagate mulberry trees by cuttings

Material selection

Cuttings are usually taken in autumn, and it is appropriate to choose the part of the upper part of the new mulberry tree that has not yet become corky and is about to become corky. The mother branches are young mulberry trees.

Cuttings

Select the middle and lower part of the healthy branches and cut them into sections with a length of 15 to 20 cm. The upper buds should be full and disease-free. Cut the buds flat and make oblique cuts slightly below the opposite direction of the lower buds. The cut needs to be smooth.

Root growth

Soak new mulberry sticks in the rooting agent for about 2-4 hours, while old mulberry sticks need to be soaked for 6-10 hours. After soaking, take them out and wash them with clean water. Place them upright next to each other and wait for them to dry before planting. After that, sand storage is carried out to promote rooting. Clean river sand is used to form a certain bed surface. The treated cuttings are inserted into the sand with a spacing of about 2-3 cm between plants. The sand is kept moist and transplantation can be carried out after roots have grown.

Planting

Insert the mulberry seedling cuttings into the soil, leaving two buds on the part exposed above the ground. After planting, the land should be compacted and finally covered with a layer of nylon film.
