Specific operation method

1. Transplant and prune rose seedlings with flower buds or taller seedlings, and place them in a cool and ventilated place to acclimate them. Avoid direct sunlight and slowly nourish the roots until the seedlings come to life. When new buds sprout and the leaves unfold, it means the acclimatization is successful.

2. Transplanting and pruning seedlings with flower buds - the cut should also be about 1 cm above the axillary buds or five complete leaves. If the branch is too long, you can cut it off at half the height, and if it is too short, you can reduce it by one third of the height.

3. For shrubs that are not tall, light pruning is required after flowering in summer, and the pruning position should be 1 cm above the top of the 5 leaflets.

4. For small and medium-sized seedlings of miniature roses, in order to avoid poor ventilation and poor growth of the seedlings, you can remove the inward buds.

5. The upright varieties of roses have poor ability to sprout side buds. The queen will be lazy to bloom in the early stage. You can prune it after flowering to promote the sprouting of side buds.

6. When pruning floribunda roses, prune about 1 cm above the full axillary buds. After a large number of lateral buds have sprouted, remove the secondary buds at the locations with multiple buds.

7. The rose branches will tend to point in the direction of the top bud. The cutting of upright growing branches should be done at an outward growing bud, and the cutting of outward expanding branches should be done at an inward growing bud. Be careful to cut 6 mm (1/4 inch) above the bud. If the cut is too close, the bud will be damaged. If it is too far, it will not only be unsightly, but also easily cause branch ulcers.

8. For roses with sparse branches on one side, you can keep them for pulling and filling. When the branches on the other side are fully grown, you can untie them. When growing flowers on the balcony, you should pay attention to ensuring that the plants receive balanced light and turn the flower pots frequently to avoid the branches growing to one side due to the plant's phototropism.

9. For cut roses, also known as large-flowered roses, if the branches are old, you can cut them harder and shorten the old branches to allow adventitious buds to sprout. This type of pruning is suitable after flowering in spring or before buds sprout in autumn. The picture below shows the pruning method for normally growing seedlings.

10. Pruning of diseased plants - If the rose is waterlogged, pruning should be done after the stems turn black.

11. If the new buds of the rose wither, remedial pruning should be carried out after planting in the pot.

12. If the stems of rose seedlings turn black after being infected, apply medicine or use wax to seal the cut ends when pruning.

13. If the rose plant becomes wilted after being planted in the pot, remedial pruning should be carried out.

14. If the rose becomes severely dehydrated after being exposed to the sun during the seedling acclimatization period, then the seedlings should be placed in a cool place for acclimatization after pruning, and should be sprayed and humidified continuously until new buds sprout. The soil in the pot can be kept slightly moist.
