How to top and pinch cosmos

Topping

When growing cosmos, topping and pinching are actually very simple.

The reason why Cosmos needs to be topped and pinched is that when cultivating Cosmos, because the growth speed of Cosmos is very fast, if it is not topped and pinched, the Cosmos will easily grow very tall, and will not branch, and will rarely bloom.

When topping and pinching the cosmos, you must be decisive. Some people are worried that it will affect the growth of the cosmos and are reluctant to do it, which is not acceptable. Although topping and pinching will affect the shape of the cosmos plant, the flowering will be much better.

Precautions

When pinching the cosmos, it is necessary to wait until the seedlings have grown to a certain extent, at least when they have 4 pairs of leaves. It is generally best to wait until the cosmos has grown more than 10 leaves before pinching.

When growing cosmos, you need to keep the branches above 10 cm, because some varieties of cosmos will find it difficult to bloom if the branches are too short. In addition, the branches and leaves of the cosmos sown in autumn grow shorter and stronger than those of the cosmos sown in spring.

When topping and pinching the cosmos, be careful not to do it too early. If you do it too early, the cosmos seedlings will be weakened, which is very detrimental to their growth. Therefore, it must be done when the time is suitable for topping and pinching the cosmos.
