What to do when wintersweet buds fall

Water moderately

Wintersweet needs to be watered moderately and grows best in loose soil with good drainage. Watering needs to be controlled after bringing the plant indoors in winter. Water it once at noon every 3 to 5 days, and the amount of water should not be too much. After the leaves fall, reduce the amount of watering again and water once every 7 to 10 days. Water appropriately before flowering and during the flowering period, as too much water will cause flowers and buds to fall off. Spraying new lipid film can prevent moisture evaporation, and spraying Flower King No. 3 during the flower bud differentiation period can transform the plant's nutritional growth into reproductive nutrition, inhibit the crazy growth of the main shoots, promote flower bud differentiation, and produce more flowers.

Scientific pruning

Wintersweet usually forms flower buds on the branches of the current year, with the most flowers blooming on short branches. It is suitable to prune potted wintersweets after they bloom and before the leaves appear. Leave two buds at the base of each flower branch and cut off the upper branches to promote the sprouting of new branches. After pruning, apply a callus antiseptic film to the wound to accelerate wound healing. After that, pinch off the new branches every 10 cm to encourage the growth of more short and strong flower branches, making the plant shape beautiful and the crown round.

Fertilizer management

Wintersweet likes fertilizer. During the growing season until the leaves fall in winter, an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer should be applied. After flowering in early spring, before the beginning of the dog days, and before winter, fertilize with water or full-element flower fertilizer to supply the nutrients needed for flower bud differentiation and flowering in time. In addition, the dog days are the period of flower bud differentiation and the vigorous growth of new roots. You should apply 1 to 2 times of phosphorus and potassium liquid fertilizers. After the autumn cools down, you need to apply dry fertilizer again to enrich the flower buds. Spray new lipid film at the right time to improve fertilizer efficiency.

Lighting Management

Wintersweet loves sunshine. In winter, the potted plants need to be placed in a sunny place. If the indoor space is too shaded, the flower buds will easily fall off.
