How to propagate colorful peppers by cuttings

Cutting propagation of colorful peppers

The cutting medium for colorful peppers is generally nutrient soil, river sand, peat soil, etc.

The selection of cuttings is also called cuttings. Usually combined with the pinching work, healthy and strong tops are selected as cuttings, and the tops of colorful peppers are directly used for cuttings.

Management after cutting

temperature

The suitable temperature for rooting cuttings is between 18℃-25℃. In low temperature conditions, you can wrap the flower pots used for cuttings with film to keep them warm; in high temperature conditions, pay attention to shading the cuttings, reducing light, and spray the cuttings 3-5 times a day.

illumination

After cuttings, 50-80% of the sunlight must be blocked, and the shading net can be gradually removed after the roots grow out.

humidity

After cuttings, the air humidity should be kept between 75-85%, and the cuttings should be sprayed 1-3 times a day, with the number of sprays adjusted according to weather conditions. It should be noted that excessive spraying can easily cause bacteria to infect and cause the cuttings to rot.

Basin

When potting the seedlings, first put a 2 cm thick coarse-grained substrate at the bottom of the pot as a water filter layer, then sprinkle a 1-2 cm thick layer of fully decomposed organic fertilizer on it as base fertilizer, then cover with another layer of substrate, and finally put the plants in, keeping the roots separated from the fertilizer to avoid root burn.

Transplanting

When transplanting seedlings, first dig a planting hole and sprinkle a layer of organic fertilizer about 4-6 cm thick on the bottom, then cover it with a layer of soil and place the seedlings. Finally, backfill the soil to cover the roots, and lightly compact the soil with your feet, then water it thoroughly.

Topping

Pinch the branches twice before flowering to promote flowering branches. One or two weeks after potting, or when the seedlings reach 6 to 10 cm in height and have more than six leaves, remove the top and keep the lower 3-4 leaves. The second pinching time is usually 3-5 weeks after the first pinching, or when the length of the side branch reaches 6-8 cm, the top of the side branch can be removed while retaining the 4 leaves below the side branch.
