How to water Gloxinia in winter

How to water Gloxinia in winter

1. How to water Gloxinia

Gloxinia is suitable for growing in an acidic environment, so when watering, it is more appropriate to have slightly acidic water. The water used for watering should be clean and must not come into contact with the leaves, because there are hairs on the leaves. Do not get them wet, as this will easily cause rot. Therefore, do not spray water on the flowers or leaves. Even when watering, care should be taken to avoid splashing and contaminating the leaves and flowers.

When watering, especially within a week after germination, you can add a small amount of well-proportioned fertilizer to provide the buds with the nutrients they need for growth.

2. When should I water Gloxinia?

Gloxinia is extremely afraid of moisture and dryness. The best time to water it is around ten o'clock in the morning. In this way, there will be no water accumulation in the flowerpot by noon, and the Gloxinia will not rot due to lack of oxygen and waterlogging at the roots. If you find that the leaves are wilting during the day, it means that you did not water enough in the morning, or too much water evaporated at noon, causing the soil to dry out. At this time, you can add an appropriate amount of water, but be sure to water it in slowly!

3. How much water should be poured on Gloxinia

Gloxinia cannot lack water, but it is also afraid of waterlogging. The leaves of Gloxinia are also afraid of water, so you must never water it by spraying. There are two main methods of watering.

The first method is to water the pot slowly and evenly along the edge of the pot. Observe the changes in the soil while watering and avoid water accumulation. After paying the tax, dig 2 cm deep and check the moisture content of the lower layer of the soil. If it is dry, add water appropriately, and it still needs to be poured in slowly.

The second method, in order to prevent splashing when watering, you can choose to use the immersion method. Put the flower pot into a large basin, pour water into the large basin, and use the suction of the soil to suck the water into the spray from the drainage hole, and then absorb it into the plant. This can effectively control the amount of water added and prevent the plant from rotting due to excessive water.

No matter how you water it, you must ensure that the soil has good drainage to prevent diseases in the African violet plant.
