How to sow coleus

How to sow coleus

Coleus can be used to produce excellent plants through sowing, generally using the pot sowing method and cutting method.

Coleus in pots

Coleus can be sown in pots in all seasons. It is usually done in the warm March. You can mix well with decomposed humus soil and plain sandy soil and then put it into the seedling pot.

Then put the seedling pot filled with fine sand into the water to soak it, and then sow the seeds according to the sowing method of small seeds, cover with a thin layer of soil, and then cover with a glass plate or plastic film.

During this period, keep the soil in the pot moist and water it properly. After a period of time, the seeds will take root, sprout and grow into seedlings, which can then be divided and transplanted.

Cutting sowing of coleus

Coleus can be propagated by cuttings and sowing, which can be done in all seasons and is very easy to survive.

First, cut full and plump branches as cuttings, rinse the cut with clean water, and then insert them into clean and disinfected river sand.

Pay attention to the cuttings, so that the part buried in the soil should often have leaf nodes taking root. It should be placed in a cool place for cultivation. Be sure to keep the soil in the pot moist, but not waterlogged. Maintain a relatively warm temperature to promote rooting and germination and grow into seedlings.

Of course, you can also use water for sowing by cuttings. All you need is half a cup of cooled boiled water. Then choose branches with full growth, cut off the leaves below, and insert them into the prepared water. Once roots grow, you can transplant them into pots.
