How to cultivate tiger orchid

How to cultivate tiger orchid

1. Soil

Tiger orchid likes slightly acidic soil. And the soil should have good air permeability, so you can choose slightly acidic sandy soil, that is, a mixture of leaf mold, peat and coarse sand. This is conducive to the fluidity of air and the permeability of water in the soil, which is beneficial to its growth.

2. Temperature

The suitable growth temperature for tiger orchid is 16-21℃ during the day and 10-12℃ at night. Because of its poor cold resistance, the winter temperature must not be lower than 5℃, and it must be placed indoors or in a greenhouse to overwinter.

3. Water

During the growing period of Tiger Orchid, the potting soil should be kept moist and slightly dry to avoid rain. Water cannot accumulate in the potting soil, otherwise it will cause the bulb to rot. Bulb rot is a disease caused by infection of various fungi and a few bacteria, which causes the bulbs of flowers and crops to rot. This can cause the stems to fail to emerge or the leaves to stunt their growth, turn yellow to red or green, and eventually wither or die.

4. Lighting

Tiger orchid likes a semi-shaded environment, especially in summer, it should be placed in a semi-shaded environment. It should not be exposed to the sun, but it should not be placed in a completely dark corner, as this is not conducive to the growth of tiger orchid.

5. Fertilization

During the growing season, apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer once every half a month. Promote the growth of tiger orchid and reduce diseases and pests.

Editor's message: During the flowering period of Tiger Orchid, the soil needs to be kept dry and the temperature cool.
