When is the best time to repot Clivia?

Clivia repotting time

Clivia needs to be repotted every year, and it is best to do so when it is growing vigorously. The hot summer and cold winter are the dormant periods for Clivia. The survival rate will be very low if you repot it at this time. It is best to do it from April 5th to 10th in spring and September 5th to 10th in autumn. Repotting during these two time periods can not only trim the roots of Clivia, but also will not affect the germination and growth of the plant.

How to repot Clivia

1. Remove the plant

Clivia grows very fast and the soil in the pot needs to be replaced every year. When repotting, gently pull the plant out without damaging the roots. If the roots are too large to be pulled out, turn the pot upside down, shake the stem, and you can pull it out intact.

2. Prune the roots

After removing the Clivia from the pot, gently remove the soil at the roots, and then trim the rotten and unhealthy roots. If there are many rotten parts, you can spray pesticides to sterilize them, and then place them in a well-ventilated place to dry the wounds.

3. Entering the pelvis

First, spread a layer of soil at the bottom of the flowerpot, then add base fertilizer, then add some soil, then gently put the Clivia in, compact the soil, and then place it in a cool and ventilated place. Wait for it to recover for about a week, and slowly increase the light intensity.

Things to note when repotting Clivia

1. Generally, after flowers are potted, they need to be watered immediately to help them take root. This will allow the soil to fit closely to the roots and allow them to adapt to the pot faster. However, for Clivia, do not water it immediately after potting it, because after watering, the soil will sink, which can easily break the roots, making them more susceptible to root rot and infection.

2. We can first wet the soil, and then plant the Clivia in it. After potting, we can put the Clivia in a cool, well-ventilated place for about a week to adapt to the pot quickly, so that it will adapt to the pot quickly and there will be no root rot.
