Water and fertilizer management of gerbera

Watering management of gerbera

Gerbera is sensitive to water. It can tolerate drought but not waterlogging. Watering needs to be done correctly, and generally needs to be controlled according to the specific growing period or season.

During the seedling stage of gerbera, it is necessary to maintain sufficient water and the soil should be properly moist. The best time to water is in the morning. It is best to water once every 5-7 days, and decide whether to water based on the weather and water shortage conditions. Be careful not to allow water to accumulate in the soil.

During the vigorous growth period of gerbera, the demand for water is relatively large, so more watering is needed to keep the soil moist. In the high temperature of summer, water should be sprayed to cool down, and watering should be restrained in winter when growth stagnates.

During the flowering period of gerbera, watering is also necessary. Water the gerbera daisy plants abundantly before flowering so that they can grow strong. During the flowering period, watering should follow the principle of not watering unless the soil is dry, and watering thoroughly when you do water. Be careful not to water the center of the plant.

Fertilization management of gerbera

Gerbera is relatively fertilizer-loving. In addition to applying a certain amount of base fertilizer during planting, reasonable fertilization is required during the breeding period.

During the seedling stage of gerbera, fertilizer can be applied once a week, mainly nitrogen fertilizer.

During the vigorous growth period of gerbera, the demand for fertilizer is relatively large. Nitrogen fertilizer is the main fertilizer, with appropriate additions of phosphorus fertilizer, potassium fertilizer, and fertilizers rich in other elements. Due to climate reasons, the application of fertilizer should be reduced in summer and winter.

Before gerbera blooms, you can apply a lot of fertilizer. To make the flowers more colorful, you can apply more potassium fertilizer. When gerbera enters the flowering period, you can apply a small amount of foliar fertilizer once a month.
