How to propagate Dutch chrysanthemum

How to propagate Dutch chrysanthemum

Sowing propagation of Dutch chrysanthemum

The best time to sow chrysanthemums is from late July to mid-August.

To sow chrysanthemums, you can choose a flowerpot or use a seedbed, sow the seeds, and keep the temperature at around 15℃. Generally, the seedlings will emerge in a week. When the seedlings grow out, take good care of them. When they grow to 5cm, transplant them. After that, you can transplant them a second time.

Tillering propagation of Dutch chrysanthemum

The Dutch daisy has a strong tillering ability and can be propagated by tillering. In early spring, when the temperature rises and the soil thaws, the leaves of the chrysanthemums will grow in clusters. You can dig out the roots of the chrysanthemums, cut them with a knife, divide them into several parts, and replant them. Dutch chrysanthemum adopts the method of tillering propagation, which can be used for mass propagation.

Cutting propagation of Dutch chrysanthemum

Another method of propagating chrysanthemums is by cuttings. Cuttings mainly use the small tillering seedlings on the plant as cuttings. After the seedlings are cut with a knife, they are inserted into the cutting medium made of sand, perlite and vermiculite. After cuttings, keep the temperature above 20℃, spray water frequently to maintain the air humidity, and ensure sufficient light. If necessary, shade can be provided. As long as you take good care of it, the chrysanthemum will take root in about half a month. After the chrysanthemum has taken root, it can be transplanted into a pot.

Grafting propagation of Dutch chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum can also be propagated by grafting, and wild Artemisia annua is generally used as the grafting rootstock.

Grafting and propagation of chrysanthemum is a big project. From April to the end of June, find suitable yellow calamus seedlings, plant them in pots for maintenance, water and fertilize them frequently. When the yellow calamus seedlings grow to about 15cm, they can be grafted.

Use the cleft grafting method for grafting. Use a small plastic bag to keep it moist after grafting. It will take about a week to survive. After the chrysanthemum takes root, daily management can be carried out and it can grow normally.
