Cultivation methods and precautions of water lilies

Cultivation methods and precautions of water lilies

1. Soil

Water lilies do not have high requirements for soil, as long as the soil is neutral (PH6-8), but loam with high organic matter content will be better for its growth.

2. Water Use

The water depth suitable for water lily growth is between 25-30cm, which can be adjusted according to the size of the plant, but the maximum should not exceed 80cm. Pay attention to the water quality at ordinary times. It must be clean and transparent. If the water is dirty and smelly, change the water in time.

3. Temperature

Normally, water lilies can be maintained in an environment of 25-30℃. In winter, the temperature should be adjusted to above 13℃. Otherwise, except for some cold-resistant varieties, ordinary water lilies will be frostbitten.

4. Lighting

Light is the most important factor in growing water lilies, because it is a strong light plant. The stronger the light you give it, the better it grows. Therefore, no matter what season it is, it needs to be given enough light. If the natural light is insufficient in winter, artificial light can be used to supplement it.

5. Notes

1. Prune in time. After the water lily finishes blooming, some withered flowers and leaves will remain on the plant. They will not only increase the nutrient consumption of the plant, but also affect the ornamental effect, so they need to be cut off in time.

2. Change the mud every year. When growing water lilies, the soil needs to be changed every year, because after a year of growth, the nutrients in the soil are basically used up by the plants, making it difficult to support the continued growth of the plants. Changing the soil can give it more nutrients and help it grow.
