Appreciation of the Art of Peony Flower Arrangement

Appreciation of the Art of Peony Flower Arrangement

Tips for peony flower arrangement

Peony flower arrangement is mainly based on natural lines. Lines are extremely expressive, and different lines express different shapes. Since peony flower arrangement emphasizes naturalness, asymmetrical balance techniques are often used in composition to avoid mechanical symmetry. The posture of each flower and leaf must be shown in the work. In a work of art, the number of plant varieties, the quantity of materials used, and the color changes should all be fewer rather than more.

The vases used for peony flower arrangement are more sophisticated than those used for general flower arrangement. Whether it is a bottle, bowl, plate, tripod, pot, dish, or a winnowing dustpan, bamboo basket, etc., all must be refined. Such as the colored porcelain and blue and white porcelain produced in Jingdezhen, the cloisonné vases produced in Beijing, the blue Ru porcelain produced in Ruzhou, and the bamboo baskets produced in Sichuan. Use exquisite vases to highlight the richness and grace of peonies.

Before selecting peony branches and other supporting materials, you must first consider the length, posture, color and other aspects of the flowers. When picking and cutting flowers, you should choose the early morning before sunrise, preferably when there is dew on them, so as to keep the flowers fresh. If you buy them at a flower shop, you should choose flowers delivered that day. According to the needs of the creative intention, flowers of different degrees can be cut, such as unopened buds, half-opened buds, and blooming flowers, and used together to express the natural changes in the life process of the peony.

The emotional color of peony flower arrangement

When creating flower arrangements, you can arrange them according to your own hobbies and interests, but in terms of composition, you must master the configuration of the flower arrangements, that is, staggered heights, dense and sparse, a combination of virtual and real, echoes of ups and downs, light on top and heavy on bottom, scattered on top and gathered on bottom, etc. If the top is light and the bottom is heavy, that is, the flower buds are on the top and the full flowers are on the bottom; the light colors are on the top and the dark colors are on the bottom; the big flowers are on the bottom and the small flowers are on the top. You can use L-shaped, graphic, radial, or S-shaped flower arrangement compositions. In terms of color configuration, there should be a main color, and the color should not be too dark. Choose similar colors and pay attention to the configuration of harmonious colors. When configuring contrasting colors, use neutral colors to harmonize them.

In addition, we should also pay attention to the emotional effects of colors. Due to the spiritual factors that people associate with nature, as well as factors such as national traditional customs, people will have different emotional effects on different colors, such as red is passionate; white is pure and noble; black is solemn and dignified; blue is calm and elegant; green is quiet and peaceful; yellow is light and lively, etc.

The ratio of flowers to vases should be appropriate, with large vases used for large flowers and small vases for small flowers. When inserting, use an odd number of flowers as much as possible. Such as three, five, seven, and nine. There are usually three flowers, one is the main one, two are the secondary one, and three is the auxiliary one. It allows the viewer to see clearly at a glance, with the main and secondary points clearly distinguished. The key to traditional flower arrangement is not to have too many flowers, but to have a few but good ones, and to win by their posture and charm. Sometimes one, two or several flowers are enough to constitute a masterpiece.
