How to make roses bloom more beautifully and fragrantly

Longer sunshine hours

When planting or potting roses, at least five hours of sunlight a day is the primary condition for the roses to bloom.

Fertilization should be timely

Fertilizers should be applied frequently during the growing season of roses, because the roses are approximately apart! In one and a half months, the growth and development process of sprouting, branching and flowering will be repeated. It consumes a lot of nutrients and needs to be continuously supplied with various nutrients to ensure normal growth and development. Normally, apply decomposed thin cake fertilizer water once every ten days or so, and once a week during the peak growth period. Apply quick-acting phosphorus fertilizer once or twice during the bud formation and flowering period, and increase the application of phosphorus after autumn. Potassium fertilizer and reduce nitrogen fertilizer to control the growth of new branches. Apply less or no fertilizer during the dog days and after October. As potted roses grow, the pots and soil need to be changed every year, and organic fertilizer should be applied to facilitate the development of the root system. After each fertilization, water and loosen the soil in time to keep it loose and well ventilated.

Keep trimming

In order to keep the rose plant growing vigorously and produce more and better flowers, it needs to be pruned constantly, cutting off some old branches and promoting new buds. Because roses bloom on new branches of the same year. Large potted rose plants should be pruned in conjunction with repotting in early spring. All dead, diseased, weak and crossed branches should be cut off from the base. Depending on the variety, a certain number of axillary buds growing outward should be retained to form an appropriate number of flower branches. Generally, about half of the strong branches of a mature plant are pruned back, and two-thirds of the weaker branches are pruned back, leaving three to five strong main branches, which concentrate nutrients and produce large, brightly colored flowers. After the first batch of flowers fade in October, the remaining flower stalks should be cut off in time to promote the rapid germination of new buds.

Timely prevention and control of pests and diseases

From spring to autumn, roses are constantly attacked by various diseases and pests, and need to be prevented and controlled in a timely manner.
