Strawberry is a very widely grown fruit and is known as the queen of fruits. It has high nutritional value, a sweet and sour taste, and is fragrant. If you plant strawberries, what should you pay attention to in strawberry planting and management techniques? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Garden selection Strawberries like light, but are also shade-tolerant; they like water, but are also afraid of waterlogging; they also like fertilizer and are afraid of drought. When planting strawberries, you should choose a place with flat ground, plenty of sunlight, fertile soil, loose and breathable, and convenient drainage and irrigation. Combine the application of organic fertilizer , tillage and land preparation before planting. 2. Planting time Strawberries can be planted in spring and autumn. Planting is carried out in spring when the average daily temperature reaches above 10°C. Plant in autumn when the average daily temperature is not lower than 15°C. 3. Temperature control Control the temperature of strawberries according to the growth period. During the seedling period, the temperature needs to be controlled between 15 and 30 degrees. The temperature should not be too high during the flowering period, generally around 10 to 28 degrees. During the fruit expansion period, the temperature should be between 8 and 25 degrees. During harvesting, the temperature is generally between 10 and 20 degrees. 4. Topdressing management In the first three years after strawberry planting, top dressing should be applied at least once a year. Human manure should be applied once before and after planting, and the amount of fertilizer applied each time should be 100 to 150 kilograms. Generally, fertilizer is applied once every 5 to 7 days around noon on a sunny day. Each time, 20 kg of urea and 10 kg of potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be applied per mu. 5. Remove old leaves When applying top dressing, pay attention to timely removal of old leaves, weak leaves and runners; appropriately remove new seedlings that grow from runners; remove newly grown inflorescences in time to reduce nutrient consumption; remove inflorescences from fruiting mother branches in time to avoid affecting fruit development; after strawberries bloom, pay attention to timely removal of flower buds and stalks to reduce nutrient consumption. 6. Water management Water the strawberries immediately after planting and water them frequently within a week. After covering the ground with film, watering should be done to the degree of "wet but not waterlogged, dry but not drought" to keep the soil moist. 7. Thinning flowers and fruits Keep the top inflorescence and berries of 1st to 3rd order, and promptly thin out the flowers and fruits below 3rd order; remove ineffective and deformed flowers and fruits as early as possible. It is appropriate to keep 7 to 10 fruits in each cluster. 8. Free-range bees Bees should be released in the greenhouse one week before flowering. It is appropriate to release 1 to 2 boxes per acre of greenhouse. 9. Pest and disease control Strawberry is a delicate fruit, so disease and pest control is key. Strawberry anthracnose, gray mold and red spider mites are the main diseases that affect strawberry yield. We must do a good job of prevention and spray with methyl thiophanate, thiophanate-methyl, carbendazim and other pesticides in advance. That’s it |
