How to repot a bottle orchid

How to repot a bottle orchid

When should you choose the right time to repot the wine bottle orchid?

Potted bottle orchids should be repotted and soiled in spring or autumn every year. The hot summer is not suitable for repotting bottle orchids, which will lead to water loss and plant drying up. When repotting and changing the soil, use a mixture of leaf mold, garden soil and river sand for transplanting.

The flowerpots you choose should be slightly larger than before, so that it is convenient to repot and ensure the plants' safe "change of home". When repotting, the integrity of the flower roots should be maintained, and the repotting should be done quickly and steadily.

The roots of the wine bottle orchid should be cleaned when repotting

If you find that the wine bottle orchid has too many roots when repotting, you need to clean up some of the diseased roots, old roots, broken roots, and dead roots to ensure the normal growth and nutrient absorption of the wine bottle orchid after repotting.

For the soil clumps that come with the roots when they are repotted, about ⅔ of the total soil should be removed, and some new soil should be spread in the pot. Then the treated roots should be placed evenly in the new pot, and the culture soil should be added and watered. Shade the soil should be provided, and after about a week, watering can be done again to promote the growth and absorption of the new roots.

How to remove the pot when repotting the bottle orchid

First, place the pot of the bottle orchid that needs to be replaced on the ground, and tap the four sides of the pot gently to separate the soil from the old pot due to the vibration. Then turn the flowerpot over, hold the plant with your fingers, pat the bottom of the pot with your right hand, and use a piece of wood to push the soil down from the low hole to make the bottle orchid come out. Then pat the edge of the pot with both hands to make the excess soil fall off the wall of the pot.
