Flowering management of potted violets

Flowering management of potted violets

Management of violet flowering period

During the cultivation of violets, attention should be paid to fertilizing. Do not apply too much fertilizer at one time. Apply thin fertilizer frequently, otherwise it will easily cause the plant to grow too tall and affect flowering.

The leaves of violets are thick and have a certain resistance to drought, so they should not be watered too much. Just keep the soil moist. Too much water will cause root rot.

Flower bed arrangement

In spring, water should be properly controlled and inter-cultivation should be carried out to conserve moisture so that the plants can be short and dense, achieving better ornamental effects.

Cut flower cultivation

The supply of water should be guaranteed to promote the elongation of the flower sword. If the flower branches are cut off in time after flowering, topdressing is applied and management is strengthened, side branches can sprout again and bloom again. During the high temperatures and temperatures in summer, we must pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests.

Methods for controlling the flowering period of violets

1. Choose different types. Purposefully choosing planting according to the different flowering periods can ensure the desired flowering.

2. Adopt different sowing times. According to the characteristics of violets, if they are sown in a greenhouse, seedlings can emerge as long as the temperature reaches 18-20℃. If they are sown in February, they will bloom in May; if they are sown in March, they will bloom in June, so as to control the flowering period.

3. Supplementary lighting. Since violets are long-day plants, after the buds appear in the greenhouse in winter, turn on the lights for 4-5 hours a day when there is no sunlight or provide light for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night until they bloom. The supplementary source is installed 1 meter above the plant.

4. Gibberellic acid treatment. In order to promote early flowering, you can apply 100 ml of gibberellin solution containing 5 mg to the flower buds to promote early flowering. Drain water from time to time. Its petals are in a shredded shape and are extremely beautiful. It can be used as a flowering ground cover plant or as a flower bed, potted flower, or cut flower.
