Four seasons maintenance methods of Anthurium

Four seasons maintenance methods of Anthurium

Spring maintenance methods

Placement

In spring, it is suitable to be arranged on balconies facing east, south or west.

Repotting

Spring is a good time to repot Anthurium. When the temperature reaches 15℃, you can repot it. (Usually young plants should be repotted once a year, and mature plants should be repotted once every 2 to 3 years.) For repotting, choose soil that is rich in humus, fertile, loose, and well-drained.

Lighting requirements

Anthurium is afraid of direct sunlight and prefers partial shade. The temperature in early spring is relatively low and can exceed 25°C. The plants should be placed in a sunny place for maintenance. As sunlight gradually increases in late spring, move the plants to a semi-shaded location for cultivation. Anthurium has a long flowering period and can bloom continuously with proper light. If the plant is kept in a dim light environment for a long time, it will affect its flowering and make the leaves lose their luster.

Fertilization and moisturizing

When the temperature is above 20℃ in spring, Anthurium begins to grow new leaves, and top dressing begins after the new leaves appear. The soil in the pot should be moist in the early stage of leaf emergence. After the leaves emerge, increase the amount of watering to keep the soil moist.

Summer maintenance methods

Placement

In summer, it is suitable to be arranged on balconies facing east, south or west.

Watering and moisturizing

Anthurium grows in tropical rainforests with high temperature and high humidity, so summer is the peak growth season for anthurium. In terms of management, the soil should be kept moist, attention should be paid to replenishing air humidity, and fertilizers should be applied regularly. Water according to the dryness or wetness of the soil, water when it is dry and water when it is wet.

Avoid bright light

Anthurium is afraid of strong light and should be grown in bright or semi-shaded place. The sunlight is strong in summer, so do not expose the plants completely outdoors and provide appropriate shade. At noon in summer, you can sprinkle water around the plants to cool them down.

Autumn maintenance methods

Placement

In autumn, it is suitable to be arranged on the east or north facing balcony.

Gradually increase the light

As the weather gradually turns cooler in autumn, increase the low-temperature light in the morning and evening appropriately and move the plants to a semi-shaded place for maintenance. When the temperature is low, it can receive sunlight all day.

Temperature control and moisturizing

When the temperature drops to 20℃ in autumn, pay attention to controlling the temperature indoors or on the balcony, gradually reduce the number of watering, but keep the soil in the pot moist. Pay attention to increasing air humidity and spray in time. Stop fertilizing when the temperature drops below 18°C.

Winter maintenance methods

Placement

In winter, it is suitable to be arranged on the east, south or west facing balconies.

Warming and moisturizing

Anthurium is not cold-resistant, and the winter temperature should be kept above 15℃, otherwise it will not bloom. When the temperature is below 10℃, Anthurium is easily frozen. In winter, the indoor temperature should be controlled at 15~20℃ and the soil in the pot should be kept moist. If you use air conditioning to increase the temperature, sprinkle water around the anthurium at noon to increase the air humidity.

Fill Light

Sufficient light in winter is conducive to the flowering of anthurium. When there is sufficient light, anthurium will bloom in large numbers and with bright colors. Therefore, the potted plants should be placed in a lighted place for cultivation. However, when the light is too strong, the leaves tend to turn yellow, which is not conducive to viewing, so the strong light at noon should be blocked. After flowering, the potted plants can be placed in a brightly lit room for viewing.
