Which flowers should I choose to plant?

If you want to grow a bay window garden with flowers blooming all year round, you should first choose the right flowers. It is best to stagger the flowering periods of the flowers and plants so that you can enjoy flowers all year round.

Secondly, you should choose flowers that are easier to grow. The secret to creating an indoor garden is to choose flowers that are both easy to grow and beautiful!

Below, Huahua recommends some flowers and plants that can be used to build a garden. Flower lovers can choose their favorite flowers and plants from them!

How to grow these flowers?

Huahua often mentions flowers and plants such as Kalanchoe, succulents, jasmine, and gardenia in articles, so I will not repeat here how to plant and maintain them. Here, Huahua will talk about the herbaceous flowers that are easy to bloom and have a long flowering period.

1. Petunia

Petunia is very easy to grow into a large patch of flowers and plants. It is easy to overflow the pot and is relatively simple to maintain.

(1) Petunias should be placed on south-facing windowsills or balconies.

(2) Petunias need to be watered frequently. Now they need to be watered about every 2-3 days.

(3) In spring and autumn, petunias should be topped and pinched before the flowers bloom, removing the small tender buds at the front of the branches.

Planting method:

(1) Cut off the tender buds at the top of the branches as cuttings.

(2) Mix leaf mold and vermiculite in a 1:1 ratio. After watering the plant thoroughly, use scissors to drill a hole in the surface of the soil.

(3) Place the young shoots of petunia in the hole and cover and secure them.

(4) Place the flower pot in a cool and ventilated place. Spray water on the soil when it feels dry. The roots will grow in about half a month. In order to improve the survival rate, it is recommended to transplant the cuttings into pots after they have grown leaves again.

2. Geranium

Geraniums have a long flowering period and are easy to care for.

(1) Geraniums need proper shade in the summer, but can be placed on the south windowsill to receive full sunlight in other seasons.

(2) Geraniums prefer loose and fertile soil. Wait until the surface of the soil in the pot is dry before watering.

(3) If you want the geranium to bloom, you should pinch off the tips in advance.

Planting method:

(1) Prepare the soil in a ratio of humus soil to river sand = 1:1, and then divide the soil into each disposable water cup. Drill a small hole at the bottom of the water cup as a water hole.

(2) Place the geranium seeds on the soil. It is best to cover them lightly with a layer of soil. Spray water until the soil feels slightly moist. The geranium seeds will germinate in about 5-7 days.

(3) When the seedlings grow 5-6 true leaves, transplant them into pots. When transplanting, you can directly cut off the disposable cup and transplant them into pots with soil. This can reduce the time it takes to acclimate to the pot and increase the survival rate.

3. Vinca roseus

Catharanthus major is very easy to grow and can easily bloom out of the pot.

(1) It does not require much light and can tolerate direct sunlight or semi-shaded environments.

(2) At this time, water the vinca roseus once every 2-3 days.

(3) If you want the vinca roseus to bloom into balls, you should remove the tender buds at the top of the branches and perform pinching pruning 1-2 months before flowering.

Planting method:

(1) Find a container, cover it with paper towels, spray water to wet the paper towels, and then place the seeds of Periwinkle on the paper towels.

(2) Spray the paper towel frequently to keep it slightly moist. Place it in a well-ventilated and well-lit place. You will see obvious germination in about 7-8 days.

(3) Prepare the soil in a ratio of 1:1: leaf mold and vermiculite. Place the sprouted seeds with the small sprouts facing upwards and move them into the flowerpot. After a while, you will see the small sprouts turning green.

(4) When the seedlings have 4-5 true leaves, they can be potted.
