Maintenance methods of potted peach blossoms

Peach blossom watering

For peach bonsai, the principle of watering is not to water unless the soil is dry. When watering, use an appropriate amount to prevent water accumulation and root rot.

Peach blossom fertilization

Apply liquid fertilizer once or twice after flowering each year, and no fertilizer is required at other times.

Peach Blossom Pruning

Peach blossoms differentiate into flower buds in July and bloom in the spring of the following year, so you should pay attention to pruning. For young peaches, the focus should be on developing the peach crowns. Pruning should be done in time after flowering. For branches that have flowered, only two or three buds at the base should be retained, and the rest should be cut off.

In summer, pinch off branches that grow too vigorously to promote the formation of flower buds. For plants that are not growing well, you should avoid excessive pruning, suppress the strong and support the weak, and pay attention to even distribution of branches to create a beautiful plant shape.

Peach blossom repotting

It is performed every year during the spring equinox. When repotting, put some phosphorus fertilizer at the bottom of the pot as base fertilizer, cut off the dense roots, and fill in new potting soil.

Peach blossom pest control

Peach blossoms are very susceptible to leaf curl disease. Bordeaux liquid can be used for prevention and control in the early stages of the disease to prevent the disease area from expanding and causing wilting. Pests such as aphids, caterpillars, and longhorn beetles can be captured manually or killed by spraying pesticides.

More precautions for peach blossom care

Peach blossoms can actually be induced to bloom. Generally, the pots are moved to a place below 7℃ and then placed indoors about a month before the festival. The temperature can be gradually increased from 10℃-20℃, and they will bloom in about 10-25 days.
