How to breed golden diamonds

Cutting propagation of golden diamond

Cutting time

Golden Diamond can be carried out in spring and autumn, and is most suitable from May to September. But you need to start preparing in early spring, strengthen maintenance, control water and apply fertilizer, so that the mother plant will be plump and the branches will be strong.

Cutting method

If you want to use cuttings for propagation, you first need to have a healthy mother plant.

In spring, select strong golden diamond branches and cut them to 12 to 15 cm. Make sure the cut is smooth. After cutting, place the branches in a cool place to dry naturally before grafting.

Prepare a container for cuttings, in which the soil is a mixture of vermiculite and river sand. Water thoroughly the day before cuttings.

Insert the prepared branches into the soil at a depth of 4 to 6 cm. If the soil is still moist, no watering is necessary. If the soil in the pot is dry, water it thoroughly until water flows out from the bottom of the pot.

After cuttings, spray water on the leaves and the surrounding environment 2 to 3 times a day to ensure the air humidity. Control the indoor temperature at around 22℃. It will take root and sprout after 4 weeks, and can be maintained normally after new leaves grow.

Propagation of golden diamond

Division time

Mini golden diamond can also be propagated by division. It usually takes place from May to July. At this time, the temperature and light are conducive to the growth of golden diamonds.

The necessary condition for division is that the mother plant has been growing for 2 to 3 years and several small plants have sprouted around it.

Division method

Remove the golden diamond from the pot and trim the messy roots. Check the growth of the surrounding small plants, if they are growing normally, they can be divided.

Use a sharp knife to cut off the small plants growing from the base of the plant. Avoid repeated operations when cutting, and do it in one step to reduce wounds. After cutting, place the small plant in a cool place to dry in the sun for 1 to 2 hours, and plant it after the wound is dry.

Choose a suitable flowerpot to plant small plants. Pay attention to shaping after new leaves grow. Tie up the scattered leaves with a thin rope. After the leaves grow well, gradually loosen the rope to prevent the leaves from spreading too much and taking up space.
