How to sow Schefflera

How to sow Schefflera

Preparation for sowing Schefflera

Generally, the spherical fruits of Schefflera can be harvested after January. You can remove the peel and pulp and rub them with fine sand. Then wash them with water to get clean and plump seeds. You can sow them at will or store them in sand for germination. Sowing in pots or on the ground requires waiting until the seeds crack and turn white.

How to sow Schefflera

Use humus soil or sandy soil for potting. First prepare a substrate mixed with 2 parts of leaf mold and 1 part of soil, fill 2/3 of the pot and flatten it, and the depth of the soil should be about 1 to 2 times the diameter of the seeds. Then sow the seeds evenly in the pot and cover them with fine soil until the seeds are no longer visible. Then prepare a container with water, put the seeding pot in it, and let the water slowly seep into the pot from the bottom holes until the soil surface is slightly moist. After that, you must also keep the soil in the pot moist. The growth temperature should be controlled at around 20-25℃. It will take about 15-20 days to wait, after which the seedlings will gradually emerge. Transplant after the seedlings are 5-10 cm tall.

After being stored in sand for germination, the seeds can be sown. Under suitable temperatures, they can be unearthed in about a week. Growing well. After cultivating in the bed for one year, transplant it or directly put it in a pot.

Management of Schefflera after sowing

Schefflera prefers a semi-shady growing environment. After the seedlings emerge, a shed should be built in time or a shade net should be used to provide shade. It can be exposed to full sunlight in autumn and covered with ground film in winter to prevent cold and keep warm. It can safely overwinter as long as the surrounding temperature is maintained above 5°C.

Water the leaves frequently, keep the soil moist, and apply fertilizer appropriately.

It should be noted that in the high temperature season, full shading is required within one week after transplanting the seedlings, semi-shading is required for the next 8-15 days, and full exposure is required at night. 20% shading is required within 16-20 days, after which normal maintenance and management can be carried out.
