Fertilization method of Amaryllis

Fertilization method of Amaryllis

Note before fertilizing

In addition to learning how to apply fertilizer, you also need to know how to trim the bulbs before applying fertilizer. In order to achieve the best effect of fertilization, you should do the following before fertilizing:

Loosen the soil with a small wooden stick before applying fertilizer. Long-term watering and fertilizing will result in poor soil permeability and can easily cause the soil to become compacted. Timely loosening of the soil is conducive to the absorption of fertilizers.

Try to keep as many small balls of potted amaryllis as possible to increase the beauty of the bonsai and store nutrients.

Repotting does not need to be done every time you apply fertilizer. For plants that frequently loosen the soil, repotting should be done every 2 to 3 years.

Several key points in fertilization

Potash fertilizer supplement

Amaryllis is a bulbous flower. The strength of its roots is related to the growth of the entire plant. Appropriate supplementation of potassium fertilizer is beneficial to the development of new bulbs and the growth of old bulbs.

Seize the period

In March, before the plant sprouts, apply fertilizer once to facilitate rooting and the growth of new leaves.

April to June is the growing period and flower bud differentiation period of Amaryllis. To ensure bright colors, fertilizer needs to be added once a month.

September to October is the bulb growth period. The plants have a few leaves and the flower buds develop normally. Top dressing is done once a month.

From December to January, the plants hibernate and fertilization stops.

Before June, you can apply more nitrogen fertilizer, and after June, increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.
