How to prune the high-rise

When to prune the vines

The gaojiegao trees are pruned in spring and autumn because the temperature and humidity at this time are very suitable, which can promote the rapid recovery of the plant's wounds.

Cut a well-growing mother plant of the tall-jointed tree at one-third of the distance from the root as a cutting, remove the extra leaves on the branch, and disinfect it after pruning. Add an appropriate amount of water to the container and insert the treated branch. Change the water appropriately when rooting, and add some nutrient solution after the root system grows.

Pruning branches and leaves

It is very troublesome to prune the leaves that grow at joints. Generally, it will take about half a year for its branches and leaves to grow very tall and basically be deformed. You can wait for the branches to grow out, leave a node, and prune the rest. Don't cut off all the branches and leaves too early, otherwise there may be no new buds.

Tips for pruning

Pruning at each step can provide appropriate shaping and prevent branches from aging quickly, but there will be some shortage of water and nutrients, and the branches will not grow again even after pruning. Due to the limitations of nutrients and the environment, some branches will gradually turn yellow and die. These branches must be cleaned up in time, otherwise the rotten branches will affect the water quality.

When pruning the tall tree, you should also prune off the overgrown branches and overlapping branches in time. This can reduce the consumption of nutrients and promote the plant to grow more vigorously.

Things to note when pruning

When pruning the Glehnia littoralis, you should prepare special scissors and potassium permanganate. The pruning position should be 0.5 cm away from the mother plant. The wound should be disinfected after drying, otherwise it will be infected. In addition, if yellow leaves are found, they can be cut off to facilitate recovery.
