How to pot a nail orchid

Notes on potting

Before you master the potting method, you must know some small points of knowledge.

The first time to pot is usually in spring or autumn.

Choose a flowerpot with a small mouth, deep pot and large bottom hole. Wild nail orchids should be planted in clay pots, and then replaced with purple clay pots or porcelain pots after 2 to 3 years.

The roots of the nail orchid are different from other flowers. They must be washed before being potted. Wash them gently with a toothbrush, and do not use excessive force to avoid damaging the roots. And trim away dead branches and leaves.

The treated plants should be placed in a cool place and put into pots when the roots turn white and become soft.

Potting method

Method 1

Prepare orchid pots and various materials (soil, scissors, water, fertilizer).

The roots of the nail orchid are on top and the leaves are on the bottom. Put them under the faucet and rinse them with low water to wash away the dirt on the roots.

Do not touch the roots with your hands after washing. When potting, hold the roots with chopsticks and plant directly without touching the pot wall.

After planting, add soil, first put one-third of gravel, and then cover with fine soil.

Just water appropriately, apply a small amount of fertilizer, and maintain normally.

Method 2

The methods are basically the same, except that the operations during the planting process are different.

First, spread a layer of coarse-grained soil in the pot, 3 to 5 cm. When potting, make sure the roots stretch naturally. Putting grass and adding mud are done at the same time. Hold the orchid in your left hand and add mud with your right hand. After adding soil, lift the orchid slightly to allow the roots to stretch.

Shaking the pot is a very important step to allow the soil to combine closely with the roots. After shaking the pot, press the soil around the roots tightly with your hands and spread a layer of moss on it. Water immediately and place the orchid pot in a cool place. Avoid sun exposure for one month and control water intake appropriately.
