Simple method of growing Phalaenopsis

Simple method of growing Phalaenopsis

1. Sphagnum moss is a common medium for growing Phalaenopsis. At the same time, the choice of container for growing Phalaenopsis is also very important. You can choose to buy empty small flower baskets or small baskets woven with wooden strips.

2. Most flower lovers know that Phalaenopsis is suitable for growing in a high temperature, high humidity, ventilated and breathable environment. Therefore, the temperature of the cultivation environment should be around 26℃, and the temperature for safe wintering should be above 15℃. The air humidity should also be maintained at 50-80%. If the air humidity is too low, a humidifier can be used if conditions permit. Spraying the leaves 2-3 times a day can also achieve the same effect. However, when spraying water during the flowering period, do not spray it on the flowers, as it can cause the flowers to wither prematurely, thereby shortening the normal flowering period.

3. Phalaenopsis cannot be exposed to direct sunlight for a long time. The light is weak in winter, so you can put it in the sun for maintenance; the light is strong in summer, so it needs to be placed in a ventilated place with scattered light, and it must be shaded if outdoors.

4. Phalaenopsis has fleshy roots, and too much water can easily lead to root rot. If you choose a flower basket as a container for growing Phalaenopsis, you can "soak it in the pot" every 20 days or so (you can spray water on the leaves at other times). After "soaking in the pot", hang the basket up to drain the water and then put it back in its original place.

5. When fertilizing Phalaenopsis, you should choose fertilizers with low liquid concentration. You can add a small amount of orchid-specific nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium full-nutrient compound fertilizer to the water used for "soaking the pot" each time. During the flowering period, only water and do not fertilize. Try to stop watering and fertilizing in low temperatures or rainy weather.
