How long is the growing cycle of peas?

Introduction to Pea Growth

Peas are best grown in loose, neutral soil with high organic matter. The main production areas in China are in the central and northeastern regions, such as Henan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Qinghai and other regions.

Pea growth cycle

Peas are self-pollinating, flowering from June to July, slightly drought-resistant but not moisture-resistant, and fruiting from July to September. If it is a mid-ripening variety, it will take 75-100 days, and if it is a late-ripening variety, it will take 100-185 days.

Pea growth rate

Pea seeds will germinate in 2-3 days, flowers will bloom in June and July, and pods will grow in August and September. The pods are oblong and the seeds inside are wrinkled.

Pea growth cycle management

The pea yield is 600-800 jin. If the planting environment is not good, the yield is 300-400 jin. The high-yield yield per mu can reach 1,000 jin.

Temperature management : Peas are long-day plants, cold-resistant and can withstand temperatures as low as 5 degrees Celsius. It is best to grow them in an environment of 12-16 degrees Celsius. The yield will be low if the temperature exceeds 25 degrees Celsius.

Fertilization management : The application of quick-acting nitrogen in combination with irrigation can significantly increase the yield of peas, while phosphorus fertilizer can be applied as base fertilizer during plowing before sowing. At the same time, when the potassium content in the soil is insufficient, it can be sprayed on the leaves to ensure the development of the root system.
