The process of planting lotus seeds

The process of planting lotus seeds

Distinguishing the two ends of the seed

The seed coat of lotus is very thick, so in order to germinate better, it needs to be simply processed before planting. First, you need to distinguish the two ends of the seed. One end has a small bulge and the other end has a small depression. The end with the depression should be processed.

Seed treatment methods

Opening

Grind off the outer skin directly on the concrete floor.

Use pliers to break it, being careful not to use too much force.

Cut directly with a knife, cut slowly and don't cut into the kernel inside.

soak

Soak the cut seeds in water for about a week. The rest of the time is just waiting!

Precautions

If the temperature is low, the water temperature should be adjusted higher appropriately. If the temperature is high, the water temperature can be equivalent to the room temperature.

Change the water frequently during soaking, generally once in the morning and once in the evening.

Control the water depth, generally it is best to just cover the water.

After soaking for 2 to 3 days, you can take out the seeds and cut off a circle of the seed coat again.

Seedling cultivation

After about 5 days, the seeds will germinate, and then leaves will slowly grow in the next few days. At this time, the lotus should be moved outdoors to receive full sunlight.

Once the lotus grows two leaves, it can be planted in a pot. Prepare the silt, make the flowerpot as large as possible, and put the plants to be grown into the pot, just one plant per pot. Make sure the leaves are exposed above the silt when potting.

With sufficient sunlight outdoors, floating leaves will grow in about a month, which are very beautiful! If you have a garden at home, you can plant a few more pots of lotus and put a few frogs in them. The frogs will croak in the lotus pond and thousands of lotus flowers will bloom.
