Cultivation methods and precautions for bonsai banyan trees

1. Breeding methods

1. Loose soil: Banyan trees grow well in fertile acidic soil, which is very helpful for the development of the plant. You can prepare potting soil by mixing leaf mold and garden soil in a ratio of 1:2. Also, add an appropriate amount of small gravel to the soil. Although the plant is slightly tolerant of waterlogging, good drainage is still required to prevent the roots from being flooded and rotting.

2. Proper watering: Banyan trees like a humid environment, so you need to water them frequently to ensure that there is enough water in the potting soil, usually once every 5 days. In addition, do not allow water to accumulate in the potting soil to avoid affecting the breathing and growth of the roots. If it is summer, since water evaporates quickly, the watering interval can be shortened to prevent the soil from drying out.

3. Supplement fertilizer: Banyan trees prefer fertilizer, and sufficient nutrients can make it grow more luxuriantly. Usually during the growing season, fertilizer should be applied once every half a month, and alum fertilizer is mostly used. In summer and winter, due to climatic reasons, the growth of plants is relatively slow and the demand for fertilizer is not high, so the number of fertilizations should be reduced.

4. Control light: Banyan trees need sufficient light, but they cannot be exposed to the sun. You can put it in a bright place to avoid direct sunlight. Appropriate shade is needed in the summer, but long-term light must be provided in the winter. The environment should not be too dark, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow and wither, reducing its ornamental value.

2. Precautions

Usually potted banyan trees need to be repotted once a year, usually in spring. After removing the plant from the pot, it should be properly pruned and replanted. If the pot is not changed for a long time, the soil will harden and become compacted, affecting the breathing of the roots and also hindering the penetration of water.
