How to care for the succulent Oplina

How to care for the succulent Oplina

1. Adequate sunlight

The succulent plant Opalina is suitable for growing in places with sufficient light. If the environment is relatively dark, the plant will easily grow too tall, which will affect its appearance and be detrimental to its development. Normally, you should place it in a sunny place so that it can receive sunlight throughout the day. It should be noted that appropriate shade should be provided in summer to prevent the plants from being exposed to the sun.

2. Loose soil

Oplina prefers loose soil. Good air permeability is beneficial to the breathing of the roots. Good drainage can prevent root rot. If the soil is too sticky, the plant will often grow poorly. If you want to prepare the potting soil yourself, you can use peat soil and granular soil and mix them in a 1:1 ratio.

3. Water appropriately

Oplina is very drought-resistant and does not require much water. Too much watering is not only not conducive to its growth, but will affect its health. Normally, you should wait until the soil is completely dry before watering it thoroughly, but in summer and winter, the plants will enter a dormant state and their ability to absorb water will be relatively weak, so you should water them less often and keep the soil slightly dry.

4. Supplemental fertilizer

Opalina needs proper nutrients to grow, but as a succulent plant, its root system is not well developed, so it can easily be burned if too much fertilizer is applied. Therefore, fertilizer is only needed during the growing season, and do not apply it too frequently, once a month is enough. If the fertilizer is too concentrated, it needs to be fully diluted before application.
