How many years does it usually take for an orchid to bloom? How can you grow it to bloom more often?

1. How many years of flowering

Generally speaking, divided orchid seedlings have the possibility of blooming in the year of reproduction. If the maintenance environment is suitable, the faster-growing varieties can bloom 5-6 months after division. Seedlings propagated from seeds take longer to flower. Some faster-growing varieties can bloom three years after sowing. Some slow-growing varieties may take 7-8 years to bloom.

2. How to grow more flowers

1. Keep warm: Temperature is an important factor affecting flowering. If you can provide the orchid with a warm environment of about 20℃ during the flowering period and maintain a day and night temperature difference of about 10℃, you can make it bloom more.

2. Control light: Before flowering, it is necessary to provide appropriate shading and provide it with softer lighting conditions. Never expose it to strong light, otherwise it will affect the differentiation of flower buds and prevent it from flowering.

3. Appropriate topdressing: Before it blooms, it is recommended to apply appropriate phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to provide it with nutrients and stimulate it to grow more flower buds. This will also help it bloom more. But it should be noted that after it blooms, you need to control the fertilizer appropriately, and it is best not to apply fertilizer. But if its flowers have been blooming for a long time, you can also apply appropriate top dressing. When applying top dressing, be careful not to apply fertilizer on blooming flowers, otherwise it will cause them to wither prematurely.
