How to grow dragon fruit at home? At what temperature will it freeze?

1. Domestication skills

1. Flower pot: It is a shallow-rooted plant, and the flower pot used for cultivation should have drainage holes, and a clay pot can be used. Try not to choose plastic basins because this material is too airtight and not breathable.

2. Soil: Neutral or slightly acidic soil should be used for growing pitaya, and the soil should be loose. Do not use heavy clay soil or alkaline soil.

3. Sunlight: It likes sunlight and should be placed in a well-lit place at home and given sufficient sunlight every day. If you grow it indoors, you also need to ensure good ventilation. It can tolerate shade, but it is best not to grow it in an overly dark place.

4. Watering: When watering it, generally wait until the soil in the pot is dry. A slightly moist soil environment is most suitable for its growth. Delay watering when it rains, and drain the accumulated water as soon as possible after the rain.

5. Fertilization: The flowers of pitaya are very large, so the nutrients they require are also high. In order to make it bloom and bear fruit better, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers need to be applied before flowering.

2. Tolerable temperature range

Dragon fruit can tolerate temperatures of 0°C, so pay attention to adjusting the temperature when caring for it in winter. If conditions permit, it is best to adjust the temperature to above 5℃. Also, avoid being blown by cold winds during the winter and water less frequently.
