How to propagate saffron and how to grow it fast

1. Breeding Methods

1. Sowing: Sowing is the sexual reproduction of saffron. The best time for sowing is from September to October in autumn when the surrounding climate is suitable for germination. First prepare the plump seeds and make sure they are not affected by pests and diseases. After selecting them, you can germinate them. Soak them in warm water, wait for the seeds to absorb water and swell, then take them out and wait for them to germinate. During the germination process, you can prepare the soil for planting, then sow the seeds in it, cover them with a thin layer of soil, place them in a place with scattered light, maintain good ventilation, and keep the surrounding climate warm, and the seedlings will emerge after a period of time.

2. Bulb division: Bulb division is best done in August or September. The above-ground parts will become withered and yellow in summer. At this time, the mature bulbs can be taken out and stored in a cool place. It can be planted in autumn. There will be some small stem buds on the edge of the bulb. You can break off the small stem buds, then prepare suitable soil, plant the small stem buds in the flowerpot, water it appropriately to keep the soil moist, spray water around to increase the humidity of the indoor air, maintain a good temperature, and it will soon grow normally.

2. How to breed and grow fast

Saffron is not easy to produce seeds, so seeds need to be purchased. It takes a long time to plant and cultivate. It takes 3-4 years from sowing to flowering, so bulb division propagation is faster.
