1. What is Huaishan?

Huaishan refers to Huai yam, which is also a kind of yam, but it is different from ordinary yam. It mainly refers to the yam in Jiangsu area, but it is also a health-care medicinal material that can be used as medicine with relatively good effects. It likes to grow on hillsides, under forests in valleys, or beside streams and in bushes. It is suitable for growing in well-drained, loose and fertile loam and cannot tolerate waterlogged environments. Its tuber is long cylindrical, about 1 meter long, the stem is often purple-red, and the leaves are relatively large.

2. The difference between Huaishan and Yam

1. Origin: Huaishan refers to the yam originating from Jiangsu, Anhui and other places; the yam produced in other places is ordinary yam. The different origins of the two determine that they are different and there is an essential difference between them.

2. Texture: The texture of Huai yam is denser, harder and heavier; the texture of ordinary yam is not as dense, lighter and easier to break.

3. Cut surface: After Huai Yam is cut, the cut part can maintain milky white color for a long time and will not turn yellow easily; after Chinese yam is cut, the cut part will turn yellow after a period of time.
