Red pepper cultivation methods and precautions

Red pepper cultivation methods and precautions

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: The maintenance temperature cannot be lower than 15 degrees. If the temperature is too low, the plant will grow slowly and be difficult to pollinate. If the temperature is higher than 35 degrees, the plant will be stunted. Even if the pollination is normal, the fruit will dry up due to abnormal development. Therefore, it is most appropriate to control the temperature for maintaining red peppers between fifteen and thirty degrees.

2. Watering: It is not drought-tolerant or water-tolerant. In fact, it does not require much water. However, because its roots are not well developed, it needs more watering to ensure good growth. There is not much dew during the seedling stage, so watering should be done when the soil is dry and when it is wet. However, if the humidity of the soil is too high, the plants will develop poorly. When watering, make sure the soil is completely wet and there is no water accumulation. The temperature in summer is relatively high, so water once every two days.

3. Fertilization: Different fertilization methods are needed according to different growth periods. The seedling stage has a relatively large demand for nutrients, and it is suitable to use compound fertilizer, because compound fertilizer has sufficient nutrients and is relatively comprehensive, which can fully meet the needs of the plant; during the initial flowering period, the plant gradually grows stronger, and at this time, avoid using N fertilizer to prevent the plant from growing too tall; in the peak fruit-bearing period, it is necessary to use compound fertilizer, and stop fertilizing two days before harvest.

4. Light: It does not require much light. If the light is too strong during the lighting process, the branches and leaves of the plant will dry out. The red pepper seedlings in the greenhouse in late autumn need to be shaded to avoid viral diseases and sunburn.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by sowing. First, soak the seeds in warm water for two to eight hours, wait until the seeds are full of water and sink to the bottom of the water, then take them out, then sprinkle the seeds evenly on the soil, cover with a thin layer of soil, water enough, and place in a bright place for maintenance. They will generally germinate in about a week.

2. Pruning: When it grows to one foot high, you can start pruning. While ensuring that the plant has a few leaves left, cut off the upper part of the plant, which is commonly known as "topping". Shading can strengthen its foundation and allow it to grow more vigorously.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Pests: Cotton bollworm is the number one natural enemy of red pepper. The pest will eat the flower buds and fruits of the plant and spread pathogens. When the disease occurs, it is necessary to use carbofuran emulsifiable concentrate for spraying treatment.

2. Diseases: The plant is susceptible to pepper cotton rot. When the disease occurs, the base of the seedlings will rot, the fruit will rot, and a large amount of white mold will grow, making the fruit lose its edible value. To treat this disease, the plants need to be sprayed with Prurick water solution in the early stages of the disease.

IV. Other issues

1. Edible: edible.

2. Toxicity: non-toxic.
