Cultivation methods and precautions of purple-backed vegetable

Cultivation methods and precautions of purple-backed vegetable

1. Maintenance methods

1. Substrate selection: Purple-backed cabbage is suitable for growing in moist, fertile, deep soil rich in organic matter. It is recommended to mix garden soil, leaf mold, organic fertilizer and sandy soil before planting.

2. Temperature management: Purple-backed cabbage likes to grow in a warm environment, and the best growth temperature is between 21℃ and 29℃. It is not cold-resistant and may die if the temperature drops below 9℃ in winter. It does not like high temperatures and strong light in summer, as high temperatures will cause its leaves to lose moisture.

3. Water management: Purple cabbage needs a lot of water when growing. Mix it with organic fertilizer and water it once a week after the seedlings are planted. Normally you can water it once a day. In summer, you should water it depending on the dryness of the soil. It is fine as long as the soil is slightly moist.

4. Nutrient management: About seven days after the seedlings are planted, water them with a mixture of human and animal feces. After that, water them once with a mixture of organic fertilizer and urea each time they are picked. At the same time, you can also sprinkle an appropriate amount of wood ash evenly around the purple-backed vegetable to provide it with nutrients.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Cuttings: Summer and autumn are the best seasons for cuttings. Before cuttings, you must first rake the soil flat to keep it loose, then cut cuttings about 9 cm long from the plant, cut off the large leaves and insert them about 6 cm into the soil.

2. Overwintering: Purple-backed cabbage is not cold-resistant, and its growth slows down when the temperature is below 9℃. Before winter comes, it is necessary to take insulation measures for the purple-backed cabbage. You can cover the soil to increase the thickness of the soil layer, or use bamboo poles and plastic film to form a greenhouse for insulation.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Moths: Purple-backed vegetable likes to grow in a warm and humid environment, which also provides convenient conditions for the hatching and growth of moths. You can mix methyl parathion solution with water and spray it evenly on the surface of purple-backed cabbage. You can spray it several times depending on the situation to solve the problem.

2. Slow growth: Purple-backed cabbage has strong vitality and generally there will be no major problems with its growth. It needs to grow in a warm environment. Slow growth may be caused by the surrounding environment being too cold. This can be alleviated by using greenhouse warming or soil covering to warm it.

IV. Other issues

1. Can it be raised outdoors? Yes. Purple-backed cabbage can be planted in moist soil, and attention should be paid to keeping warm in winter, especially in the north in winter, and insulation measures must be taken.

2. Whether it can get wet in the rain: Yes. Purple-backed cabbage likes a humid growing environment and needs a lot of water to grow. Appropriate rain can promote its growth.
