Breeding methods and precautions of silver thorn

Breeding methods and precautions of silver thorn

1. Maintenance methods

1. Substrate selection: Silver thorn is suitable for growing in deep, loose acidic to slightly acidic soil or sandy loam. It cannot be too sticky, and it will grow poorly in poorly drained soil.

2. Temperature management: It is suitable for growing in a cool and humid environment and can withstand extreme minimum temperatures of -7 degrees Celsius. Its cold resistance can be said to be very strong.

3. Water management: It has strong drought resistance, but also prefers a moist and well-watered environment. Water should be replenished in time and it should be watered thoroughly after the soil is dry.

4. Light management: Silver thorn is a sun-loving tree species with a phototropic crown, and it needs sufficient sunlight even when it is young.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: During the transplanting process of seedlings, it is necessary to prune the branches and leaves, mainly pruning diseased branches and weak branches. Take protective measures during pruning to avoid hurting yourself.

2. Sowing: Mix the reserved river sand with the seeds, and spread the purchased seeds evenly on the sand bed. Then cover the surface of the seeds with some sterilized river sand. The thickness of the covering should be such that the seeds cannot be seen.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Diseases: Fusarium wilt is a common disease. The soil is too sticky and has poor air permeability and drainage, which can easily lead to the disease. Therefore, preventive measures should be taken to improve the growth environment and pay attention to ventilation and loosening the soil.

2. Pests: During its growth period, there are many pests that harm the plants. The most common pest is the psyllid, which mainly eats its young branches and leaves and secretes a waxy silk that causes the leaflets to fall off, so prevention and control is necessary. From May to June every year, pesticides should be used for prevention and control.

IV. Other issues

1. Is it poisonous? Silver thorn is a non-toxic plant with emerald green leaves and bright flowers, and its ornamental value is very high.

2. Can it be planted on the ground: It is a forestation plant, so it is very suitable for ground cultivation. But be careful not to make the density too small so as not to affect the development of the plants.
