Cultivation methods and precautions of Taipinghua

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Taipinghua has strong adaptability and likes fertile soil. The soil must also have good enough air permeability and water permeability.

2. Water: Taipinghua prefers dryness and dislikes moisture. It is generally watered once a month from March to April. From May to June, the weather is hot and humid, so water twice a month. It rains more from July to September, so accumulated water should be drained in time. It will go dormant in November, and you only need to water it once in winter.

3. Nutrients: The demand for fertilizer of Taiping Flower is very large. Organic fertilizer should be used as the main fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer as the auxiliary fertilizer. Chicken, duck and pig manure at home is the most effective. Using some decomposed compost before the marigold sprouts in spring can promote lush flowering.

4. Sunlight: Taipinghua likes a growing environment with good light. After enjoying sufficient sunlight, its leaves and flowers will become lush.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: When the magnolia is still in its dormant period, pruning the old branches at this time can not only make the crown of the tree neat, but also promote the growth of new branches in the next year, which is conducive to flowering.

2. Reproduction: When the flowers and fruits are ripe, remove the seeds, seal them in a plastic bag, and store them in the refrigerator. In the following spring, mix it with fine mountain ash and spread it on the seedbed, then sprinkle it with one centimeter thick straw. New seedlings will grow in about 15 days.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Pests and diseases: Taipinghua has a strong adaptability and is rarely invaded by pests and diseases. Generally, insecticides and fungicides can be used for prevention and control in spring and summer.

2. Yellow leaves: The common reason is insufficient nutrients, and some fertilizer needs to be applied. It is also possible that over-watering may cause root rot, so be careful to water less.

IV. Other issues

1. How to spend the winter: It will go dormant in November. At this time, give it winter water and then properly prune the dead and old branches.

2. Can it be grown at home? Yes, the flowers of the magnolia emit a slight fragrance and are very beautiful. They are also drought-resistant and easy to grow, so it is also great to grow them in the courtyard.
