Cultivation methods and precautions of South American daffodils

Cultivation methods and precautions of South American daffodils

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: The most suitable temperature for the growth of daffodils is 25-28℃. In summer, the temperature should not exceed 30℃, otherwise the growth will be slow. In winter, the temperature should not be lower than 15℃.

2. Light: It has no requirements on the length of light exposure, just give it enough sunlight. You need to pay attention to adjusting the light during winter and summer. In summer, it needs to be placed in a place with scattered light or low light, and in winter, it can be given light all day.

3. Soil: Narcissus has relatively high requirements for soil. It is best to prepare soil with a high humus content. A mixture of garden soil, leaf mold and decomposed base fertilizer is more suitable for its growth.

4. Watering: Its water requirements are very simple, just keep the soil moist at ordinary times. In winter, you should reduce the frequency of watering appropriately, and no watering is needed during its flowering period.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Repotting: It is best to repot in early spring when the gradually warming temperature is conducive to rooting. Don’t forget to add some base fertilizer when repotting, as it has a relatively high demand for fertilizer.

2. Reproduction: There are many ways to reproduce daffodils, among which the most commonly used one is bulb division. This method can be carried out when repotting in spring. Just break off the small sub-bulbs next to the mother bulb and plant them in another pot.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Pests and diseases: Aphids are prone to appear in hot and humid summer. At the same time, aphids also bring many viruses, which can be prevented by weeding and keeping the potting soil clean and hygienic. At the same time, 1000 times diluted 40% dimethoate can also be used for prevention and control.

2. Yellowing: Yellowing of leaves is mostly caused by excessive exposure to the sun or low ambient temperature in winter. When yellow leaves appear, remedial measures should be taken in time. The maintenance location should be moved in time to avoid excessive exposure to the sun, or the maintenance temperature should be increased in winter.

IV. Other issues

1. Is it poisonous? It is toxic to a certain extent. Try not to come into contact with its juice during the breeding process. If it accidentally gets on your body, wash it off with clean water as soon as possible.

2. Can it be placed in the bedroom: There is no problem in growing daffodils at home, but its bulbs are poisonous, so try not to grow them in the bedroom.
