Cultivation methods and precautions of lotus magnolia

1. Maintenance methods

1. Flower pot: Lotus magnolia prefers large potted plants, so you should choose a deeper pot. You can choose a tile or ceramic pot with a height of 25-35cm and a diameter of 20-30cm for planting.

2. Soil: It likes to grow in fertile, astringent, breathable and loose acidic soil rich in humus. Do not use soil that is too alkaline, as this will affect its growth. It is recommended to use weakly acidic leaf mold and peat soil for maintenance.

3. Temperature: The suitable growth temperature for lotus magnolia is 20-38 degrees Celsius, and it grows fastest. It also has strong cold resistance and can grow normally even in an environment of zero degrees. But in winter, it is best to move it indoors and provide it with an environment above 0℃.

4. Light: Lotus magnolia likes light, and the potted plant should be placed in a sunny place, which is more conducive to its growth. It cannot withstand exposure to the sun. In summer, it needs to be temporarily moved to a cooler place to avoid exposure to the sun. In other seasons, it can receive normal sunlight.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: Lotus magnolia can be sown in February. Spread the seeds evenly and cover them with soil. During this period, the environment should be kept moist so that it can germinate. If you are sowing seeds in pots, you need to water them before sowing to ensure that the seeds have enough moisture to germinate.

2. Pruning: In order to maintain the beautiful shape of the potted lotus magnolia tree, the young shoots at the top should be removed in time to promote the germination of side branches and flower buds. This will make the flower shape fuller and more ornamental.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Anthracnose: Brown spots will appear on the rhizomes. The spots will gradually spread and cause its roots to rot. Once discovered, it should be removed as soon as possible and sprayed with fungicides such as methyl sulfhydryl spray and citrus fungicide in time.

2. Leaf spot: Brown spots will appear on the leaves. After the disease occurs, the diseased leaves or branches should be cut off as soon as possible, and drugs such as thiophanate-ethyl, benzyl, and mancozeb should be used for spraying and treatment in time.

IV. Other issues

1. Is it edible? The flowers of lotus magnolia are beautiful, attractive and edible.

2. It can be grown at home: Because it likes light, the plant is relatively tall and can be placed on an outdoor terrace for maintenance.
