1. Appearance characteristics

The leaves of spider plant are sword-shaped, up to 30 cm in length and about 1-2 cm in width. Mature plants will develop runners that are 30-60 cm long, with small plants growing at the top. Its flowers are in clusters of 2-4, white, and have 6 petals. The leaves vary depending on the variety, some have purple petioles, and some are peach-shaped.

2. Growth habits

Chlorophytum comosum is native to southern Africa and is now widely cultivated around the world. It is suitable for growing in a warm and humid environment. It cannot receive light for a long time, but it has a certain degree of drought resistance. The temperature should be controlled at 20-25℃, and should not be lower than 5℃ in winter, otherwise it will affect its growth.

3. Purify the air

Chlorophytum has the ability to purify the environment and can absorb harmful gases such as formaldehyde. Put a few pots in the new house after decoration, and it will meet the occupancy standards within half a year. In addition, it can absorb carbon monoxide, nitrogen peroxide, etc., and can decompose benzene and nicotine.

Medicinal value

Both the whole plant and the root of Chlorophytum can be used as medicine. They can be decocted into a decoction and taken internally. They have the effects of resolving phlegm and relieving cough, clearing away heat and detoxifying. It can also be crushed and applied externally to treat symptoms such as bruises, burns, fractures, etc.
