Precautions for watering azaleas, how often should you water azaleas?

1. Watering time

The watering time is not fixed, and you need to observe the condition of the potting soil. Knock on the flowerpot and listen to the sound. If the sound is crisp, it means the soil is relatively dry and you should water it. Otherwise, do not water it. Be sure to water enough each time to ensure that there is moisture above and below the soil in the pot, but no water accumulation. Keeping the soil in the pot slightly moist is more conducive to its growth.

2. Water quality requirements

Rhododendron has three requirements for water quality. First, the water is slightly acidic, so ferrous sulfate can be added to adjust it. Second, avoid cold water. The water must be close to the ambient temperature to avoid frostbite on the roots. The third is to remove chlorine, which is mainly for tap water and needs to be left to stand for a few days before use.

3. Watering in four seasons

The watering intervals should also change according to the changes in seasons and temperature. In spring and autumn, when the climate is pleasant, azaleas will not grow too fast and generally only need to be watered once every two to three days. But in summer, when the temperature is higher, watering should be more frequent, at least once a day. When the temperature is low in winter, watering should be reduced and once a week is enough.

4. Transplanting and watering

After transplanting or changing the soil of azalea, water it thoroughly. This allows its roots to have more complete contact with the soil, allowing it to go through the seedling acclimatization period more smoothly.
